Mystery ‘neighborhood mom’ leaves free sack lunches for those in need amid coronavirus crisis

    Who says Angels aren’t humans?

During the ongoing coronavirus crisis, a mysterious “neighborhood mom” has been leaving out sack lunches on a table in a traffic circle in Severna Park, Maryland, every afternoon for anyone who needs food, according to The Capital Gazette.

A sign hanging from the simple table, which is covered by a tarp, says, “I will be leaving some healthy sack lunches on this table for you if you are hungry and need to eat. Made with love by a neighborhood mom in a clean and sanitized kitchen.”

Next to it, a bigger sign simply says, “Free lunch.”

Kimberly Gussow, who is working from home and trying to save money during the outbreak, picked up lunches for her two kids this week, as reported by the Gazette.

“Times are a little tough,” she said. “I think it’s great that everyone is stepping up to help out however they can. This might not be the best time, but it makes everyone slow down and think.”

Local Delegate Nick Kipke said the free lunches made him feel better too.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people in our community caring for others during this stressful time,” he wrote on Facebook.

Gussow told ABC News that she wants to find out who the anonymous mom is so she can thank her.

“It’s more than just putting a sack lunch on the table; she’s bringing kindness back into the world,” she said.

As of Thursday evening, at least 580 people in the state have tested positive for coronavirus, including four who have died.
