Leaker Ishan Agarwal shared some details on Twitter about the features and internals of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.
One interesting detail is that only the Pro model is said to have wireless charging and is rated IP68 for water resistance. Leaker hinted that the OnePlus 8 Pro will likely support 30W wireless fast charging. In the past, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said the company wanted to wait until it could make wireless charging as fast as their wired chargers, and it seems they’ve achieved that.
Following Samsung’s lead, the phone will also be able to wirelessly charge other devices that use the Qi charging standard when you place them on its back.
As expected, the higher-end Pro model will have a 120Hz refresh rate screen instead of a 90Hz one. It will also come with faster LPDDR5 RAM, a quad-camera setup with two 48-megapixel cameras, and a large 4,510mAh battery.
For the more affordable OnePlus 8, apart from the new Snapdragon 865 processor, a slightly bigger battery, and a 12GB RAM option, it doesn’t seem like there will be many big upgrades from the 7T model.
When it comes to cameras, the OnePlus 8 might not be as flexible as the 7T. It looks like OnePlus is planning to replace either the telephoto or ultrawide camera from the 7T with a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
In another leak, Steve Hemmerstoffer, a co-owner of Slashleaks, shared what he claims are official images of the OnePlus 8 Pro in a nice seafoam green color.
While none of the leaked information is surprising, it gives us a good idea of what to expect from the new OnePlus phones. We’ll probably learn more as OnePlus releases more details about them before their official launch.
