Coronavirus Cases Erupt In Ecuador: Over 10,000 Cases

    Coronavirus cases in Ecuador top 10,000, 4th highest in region

    Ecuador reported over 10,000 cases of the coronavirus on Monday, making it the fourth-highest number in Latin America. The virus is seriously hurting the economy of this oil-producing country.

    Recently, the pandemic has caused a lot of problems for health officials in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city, which is the center of the outbreak. In some cases, bodies were left in homes or on the streets for hours.

    Ecuador had its first coronavirus case on February 29. within 24 days tthe figures reached 1,000 cases. And then, in only seven days that number doubled to 2,000. In the next eight the figures climbed to 4,000 cases and another eight days to hit 8,000 cases, according to a Reuters report.

    So far, Ecuador has reported a total of 507 deaths, according to the health ministry.

    In Latin America, only Brazil, Peru, and Chile have more cases than Ecuador.
